Low Life - Fender Jazz Bass - History, significance and understanding of the instrument.

I was part of the creative team that took on the task of re-branding CharBroil Grills in its 75th year of operations. I was provided with a style guide for logo, fonts and colors and given the challenge to make the move. The tone and feel is very different from other brands in the outdoor cooking category; playful, bouncy and bright.
To make it work as a template I explored ways to make the typography and animations procedural so projects could be handed off to other animators and require minimal editing.
Product animations were rigged in Cinema 4D with materials and lighting that pushed photorealistic without becoming a time-intensive render to accommodate accelerated production schedules.
Several procedural typographic transitions along with animated food elements were built in After Effects where the video was completed. Scenes were built as modules that can be trimmed or extended easily.

This reel contains motion graphic openers, tags and titles from projects ranging from feature films and documentaries to corporate videos and commercials.
Software used includes Adobe After Effects, Maxon Cinema 4D and 3DS max.
The reel was edited with Adobe Premiere Pro using music created in Logic Pro.

Legacy work from another time

There are many layers behind this commercial. The main task, compositing a galloping horse behind the scooter, was made trickier because the onset light was in the opposite direction that the shadow needed to fall. A fair bit of color correction was applied to remove the original shadows and then masks were drawn in to create new shadows. The horse itself is a still frame that is animated using the puppet tool.

Char-Broil re-branded it's patented Tru-Infrared Cooking System as AmpliFire in 2022.
I Shot, animated and edited the video using graphic design elements provided by the creative agency The Variable (TVA).
The video was shot with a Nikon D850, 3D animation done in Maxon Cinema 4D, and editing and motion graphics created in Adobe After Effects.

This video was a fun challenge as the product was marketed as a social grill, but we didn't have the time or budget to film a lifestyle shoot. My solution was to film myself on the same turntable that I spin products. In After Effects I first keyed the footage, then animated masks to make the silhouettes look like different people and finally composited them all together.
I wrote, shot, animated, and edited this video for Char-Broil using a graphic template and intro/extro animations provided by the creative agency The Variable (TVA).

This video was used as an in-store video at select Lowe's locations to showcase this brand new technology. The creative direction was to make the product feel 'epic'. Using a graphic template and script provided by the creative agency The Variable (TVA) I shot, animated, edited, and designed sound for the project. Video was captured with a Nikon D850 on a FotoRobot turntable. Video Copilot's Optical Flares was the major effect utilized in After Effects, but an animated Displacement Map was used to good effect to make the food shot come to life.
